Days Out
To list all possible days out from the village would be impossible, partly because there are so many things to do, partly because people have different tastes, and partly because people have different views of what is an acceptable distance to travel. For example there is a couple from Chester (5 miles west of Tarvin) who travel regularly to Blackpool for a day's dancing in the Tower Ballroom. From Tarvin it is 77 miles (154 miles round trip) by road to Blackpool. I would be prepared to do the same but not on a regular basis. However, my wife and I go to Bodnant Gardens in Wales two or three times each year. The gardens are 52 miles from Tarvin. So, whilst I would be prepared to travel to all the venues in this list, others might not. The list is in no particular order, is not exhaustive, the distances are from Autoroute, and the opinions are my own.
The Blue Planet. (11 miles)
This is a modern aquarium near Ellesmere Port which equals "The Deep" in Hull and outshines "The Sealife Centre" in Blackpool. A wonderful place for children.
Chester Zoo (5 miles)
Chester Zoo is one of the best zoos in the country. It has something for everyone and it is so big that even on the busiest days there is room to look around.
The Catalyst Museum (22 miles)
The Catalyst Museum is in Widnes and the brochure says "explore Catalyst and dicover the colourful world of science and technology - where finding out is fun." There is a scary glass lift on the outside of the building which is fun in itself without all the stuff in the museum.
